3 reasons to eat more tuna - Eating tuna once a week does prevent the chances of ischemic stroke however eating it daily significantly reduces the rate of coronary heart disease even more so than consuming it twice a week.
- A study in Japan compared two groups of people, one who consumed tuna eight times per week and the other who consumed it once a week. The first group were found to have a 37 per cent less chance of developing coronary heart disease and 56 per cent lower chance of heart attack.
- Tuna keeps you slim – research has shown that Omega-3 fats found in cold water fish such as tuna improve the body’s ability to respond to insulin a therefore prevent obesity. The Omega-3 fatty acid EPA stimulates the secretion of leptin, a hormone that helps regulate food intake, body weight and metabolism.
